'Hobbit' skip Comic-Con, Peter Jackson

Sorry, eager fanboys and fangirls, there will be no panel at Comic-Con this week for Peter Jackson's highly-anticipated film franchise The Hobbit.
Jackson, who found astronomical success adapting another of author J.R.R. Tolkein's classics, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, says it's simply too early to bring The Hobbit to Comic-Con this year.
"New Line and Warner Bros. were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early," Jackson wrote on his Facebook page. "There's so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I've seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic-Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year."
Jackson did, however, give fans something to to talk about. He posted a funny production video from The Hobbit set where he's on the hunt for actor Andy Serkis, who plays Gollum.
"We've just finished a new video blog, covering a little more of the first block of shooting. So please enjoy this — at least you don't have to travel to San Deigo to see it!" he wrote on Facebook.
The Hobbit, which will be broken into two movies, is currently filming in Wellington, New Zealand and will be released in December 2012 and 2013.
